Dr. Deidra Harrison-McClain

Dr. McClain takes the time to get to know her patients’ unique concerns and dental condition so she can provide customized treatment plans to help them build and maintain the healthiest, most beautiful versions of their smiles near Ridgetop.

Her desire to pursue a career in dentistry started early in life when, as a sixth grader, she started orthodontic treatment. This experience revealed how this type of work combined several of her passions, such as art, science, and helping the people around her, and inspired her dream to eventually become a dentist.

As a result, Dr. McCain initially studied biology and chemistry as an undergraduate at Tennessee State, where she graduated cum laude, then went on to graduate at the top of her class with a Doctor of Dental Surgery through Meharry Medical College in Nashville. But she didn’t stop there! Dr. McCain’s also completed a residency at the University of Tennessee Graduate School of Dental Medicine, where she participated in anesthesia, family medicine, oral surgery, dental forensics, emergency medicine, and operating room dentistry rotations.

Today, Dr. McCain remains committed to helping others near Ridgetop as often as possible, and regularly volunteers to provide dental care to marginalized or underserved communities, including an annual mission trip to Jamaica with the Jamaica Awareness Association of California along with students from the Meharry School of Dentistry. She also participates with Remote Area Medical and Hope Smiles.

Not only that, but Dr. McCain is bilingual! She speaks fluent English and Spanish so she can communicate with patients more comfortably. Outside of the office, she’s a major foodie and adores music by Michael Jackson.

Dr. Ravi Patel

Dr. Patel understands that many people near Ridgetop feel nervous about sitting in the dentist’s chair, and strives to develop trusting relationships to put them at ease during their visits.

Dr. Patel was initially drawn to the field of oral healthcare because it blends science with art to creatively solve problems. Today, he finds tremendous reward in helping people of all ages build and maintain happy, healthy teeth and gums, and he enjoys knowing his efforts can improve their lives in very concrete ways.

Dr. Patel began his educational career at the University of Tennessee Knoxville as an undergraduate, then earned his advanced dental degree from their College of Dentistry. Like Dr. McCain, he is also committed to providing quality dental care to underserved communities and has volunteered with various public services and health clinics, in addition to managing a research lab at Vanderbilt University.

When he’s not in the office near Ridgetop helping save smiles, he enjoys visiting his parents in Dyersburg, where he grew up, or at home painting miniatures, teaching English, or cooking. He also enjoys traveling and has visited over 10 countries so far!
